PEPCO to be dissolved in 15 days: Naveed Qamar


ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Water and Power Syed Naveed Qamar has said that Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) would be dissolved in 10 to 15 days while the difference between supply and demand in power has been ended.

During the National Assembly session on Monday, the Water and Power minister Syed Naveed Qamar said that the issue of loadshedding has been resolved as the difference of demand and supply of power reached zero.

He said that government has started long and shorts term power projects. The minister said that the recent shortfall in electricity was all because of floods in Sindh which badly affected the hydel power generation.

The PML-N leader Sardar Mehtab Abbasi proposed that a parliamentary committee comprising members from all parties should be formed to deal with the energy crisis

On this, Federal Water and Power Minister Naveed Qamar said that the government would support any plan including the constitution of a committee.

On the other hand, the opposition in assembly session maintained that the recent energy crisis was deliberately created by the PPP-led coalition government.

Meanwhile, the PML-N and MQM traded barb on alleged marriage of Hamza Shahbaz, MNA and son of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, with Ayesha Malik, daughter of Ahad Malik. During the session, the MQM parliamentarians said that Ayesha Malik was being involved in fake cases. The PML-N leader, Mahtab Abbasi said that it was against the ethics to interfere in personal life of any person.
