Fasih Bukhari calls on Gilani

ISLAMABAD, : President Asif Ali Zardari nominated Admiral (retd) Fasih Bokhari as Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Monday called on the Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani here.

This coveted slot had remained vacant, following removal of Justice (retd) Deedar Hussain Shah from NAB chairmanship by the Supreme Court.

Admiral (retd) Fasih Bukhari in his meeting with the PM exchanged views on his expected responsibilities.

President Zardari on Sunday had sent letters to prime minister and opposition leader in National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar for consultation.

According to a private TV channel, Chaudhry Nisar on Monday confirmed that he has received the letter sent by President Zardari.

Chaudhry Nisar would give his recommendations regarding the appointment of Fasih Bukhari after consulting with the PML-N President Mian Nawaz Sharif in next few days.

It may be recalled that the Supreme Court had ordered for the appointment of NAB Chairman without any further delay and the time allowed for this had expired about three months ago.
