LAHORE: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain accused that the military courts during General Ziaul Haq’s era made fake cases against him, Express 24/7 reported on Sunday.
He was addressing a public gathering in Lahore via telephone from London.
Hussain lashed out against former governments and current political leaders, mainly the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) for sidelining his party through false and baseless propaganda.
He announced that his party will contest next general elections from all provinces.
Hussain said his party has been projected as an enemy of the country in Punjab.
Earlier, the Leader of the Opposition Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan of the PML-N criticized Hussain and his party for constantly quitting and rejoining the government. He also called MQM a fascist party that maintains a militant wing to further its politics by spreading terror
Also, Interior Minister Rehman Malik in a telephonic conversation with Hussain, disclosed there were intelligence reports that attacks would be carried out on the offices of political parties in order to create a ‘bad blood’ among them.
The minister said that the government was taking steps for foiling conspiracies, but needed the support of all religious and political parties.
