Pakistan offers to share intelligence with Afghanistan on Rabbani probe

Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani Tuesday offered to share intelligence with Afghanistan for the investigation into the assassination of former Afghan President Burhanuddin Rabbani.
Pakistan was shocked by the murder of the head of the Afghan High Peace Council and had offered its collaboration to the government in Kabul for the probe into the assassination, he told reporters on the sidelines of an official function in Quetta.
He offered intelligence sharing to the Afghan government to identify the elements involved in the killing of Rabbani. Afghan intelligence officials have said the plot to kill Rabbani was hatched by Taliban elements based on the outskirts of Quetta.
Pakistan has denied the allegation.

Gilani said Pakistan was working to devise a common strategy with Afghanistan to counter terrorism in the region.

"A combine strategy is being evolved with Afghanistan to restore peace in the region," he said.

Referring to Pakistan-US ties, he said bilateral relations were improving and strengthening.

The relations were moving in a "positive direction", he said.
